An airline provides air transport services for passengers or freight, generally with a recognized operating certificate or license. Airlines lease or own their aircraft with which to supply these services and may form partnerships or alliances with other airlines for mutual benefit. Airlines vary from those with a single aircraft carrying mail or cargo, through full-service international airlines operating hundreds of aircraft. Airline services can be categorized as being intercontinental, intra continental, domestic, or international and may be operated as scheduled services or charters. From Google News Search: "Airlines" How hard are airlines like Southwest and jetBlue to get into? Q. Airlines without a regional program? Are they harder to get into than say moving up from Delta Connection to Delta Airlines? Also, how hard are regional airlines to get into when the economy is OK? Why did you report this, "just another user" Asked by Jared - Thu May 14 17:26:53 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. First off make sure that there is an actual "flow through" program from the regional to the major as they don't always exist. Also, bear in mind that they generally work both ways, which means when the major gets in trouble, instead of laying off pilots... it pushes them back down to the Regional carrier... and THOSE pilots get pushed out onto the street. It is a LONG complicated problem, much more than would be dealt with here... but you need to understand that it exists and is a strong point of contention between the regional and the main carrier. The bottom line, don't expect to see this idea work, it *should* work, but it probably won't in my lifetime. If you talk to the guys at the Regional about such things.. be prepared for a lot… [cont.] Answered by lludwig39 - Fri May 15 01:21:09 2009 How do airlines get into "oversold situations" and make people give up seats? Q. Ok so all, or most airlines have pre assigned seats and so you know what seat everyone is sitting in. If you know you have 49 seats in a plane, why would you sell 51? Asked by Daniel - Mon Jun 18 23:25:27 2007 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. What they do is over-book. Then, they offer free stuff/money to people willing to give up their seats. My family gave up our seats on a return flight. We got $20 per person for airport food that night and $15 per person for airport food in the morning. We also got a room at a nearby hotel chain. They then gave us free plane tickets anywhere in the US, also to Mexico and Canada :D it was nice. Answered by anonymous - Mon Jun 18 23:35:07 2007 How hard is it to get hired in regional airlines?
Q. I'm just curious. Is it hard to get in to regional airlines as pilot? Or is it easy, like everyone can do it? Is the competition really hard among candidates who want to be a pilot in regional airlines? Or very easy??? I'm talking about recently. Please answer if you were once hired from regional airlines Thanks. I am not asking about right now. I am saying "when economy is NOT BAD" Asked by tmdngs - Wed Nov 12 19:05:43 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Right now, any airline is tough to get into. Airlines laid off thousands of pilots within the past month or two because of the economy. Whether it's regional or not, you're going to have a hard time probably for the next 1, maybe 2 or 3 years, until the economy gets better. Lets hope gas prices don't go up again, because that would cause even more lay offs and turmoil. Answered by Jonas - Wed Nov 12 19:19:58 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Airlines" |
